AGS 2.72 Final Runtime Binaries for *Ubuntu* Linux have been posted on the AGS Downloads page. Please note that all future version of AGS for Linux will only be built and supported for Ubuntu systems (Edgy Eft currently). However, they may work on other distributions. The AGS binary is now dynamically linked (excluding some lirbaries that are not currently available through apt-get), I suggest trying "sudo apt-get install libaldmb1 liballegro4.2 libgtk1.2 libxml1" to install the necessary dependencies.

Updated AGS 2.62 Runtime Binaries for Linux have been posted on the AGS Downloads page. These binaries are statically linked against a special build of Allegro 4.1.17 I made that should allow you to run AGS without having to install Allegro, ESD, or aRts. Feedback so far on the new static linking has been overly positive with only one dissent. As such, statically linked binaries will be the method of distribution unless I hear otherwise from the majority of users.

Updated AGS 2.62 Runtime Binaries for Linux have been posted on the AGS Downloads page. These binaries are statically linked against a special build of Allegro 4.1.16 I made that should allow you to run AGS without having to install Allegro. This is only an experiment, if it works out alright, I will continue to do this in the future. But, if I have a lot of crash bugs reported because of this I will have to revert to dynamic linking again.

AGS 2.56 Final Runtime for FreeBSD has been posted on the AGS Downloads page. At this time only statically linked binaries are provided. I will be researching ways to provide dynamically linked binaries for the FreeBSD and Linux ports of AGS, but the libraries that are used make it difficult to do so. Also, the FreeBSD version does not currently support CD Audio playback as I have not yet ported libcda to FreeBSD. However, I am unaware of any current AGS games that use CD Audio playback so this should not affect anyone.

AGS 2.56 Final Runtime for Linux has been posted on the AGS Downloads page. At this time only statically linked binaries are provided. Later today I will post the dynamically linked version. From now on, the dynamically linked and statically linked binary packages will be separate to shorten the download time as no user that I know of needs the dynamically linked binaries.
